'The Venice Series of seven aquatints were Procktor's second major collaboration with Charles Newington. Four are considerably larger than the watercolours they are based on (the watercolours are all 46 x 61cm) and this expansion of scale allows for a fuller repertoire of mark, the granular effects of tonal aquatint akin to a magnification of the texture of watercolour wash.'
